Our Most Favorite Summer Trip - Charles River Boat Tour

 By George:

On Wednesday I visited CambridgeSide Galleria and went to the food court. At the food court I ate french fries and chicken fries. Then I went on a boat cruise on the Charles River with the Charles Riverboat Company out of the Lechmere Canal. On the cruise we saw some landmarks like the MIT campus. One of the buildings was originally erected as a riverbank hotel which is now a college residence called the Fariborz Maseeh Hall. We also went by Harvard University which the oldest college in Massachusetts and the United States. We went under Longfellow Bridge which also has the Red Line on it. The bridge has many statues of vikings on it. Historians believed that centuries ago, before Puritan settlers landed, there were Viking ships that sailed on the Charles. We also went by the Museum of Science. There are some statues on the side of the museum that represent different areas of science. I enjoyed the trip and the cruise.

Yesterday we went on the Charles River Cruise. We saw many important buildings and landmarks like Harvard and the Prudential building. As we went down the river we could get a good view of both Boston and Cambridge. We got to learn cool facts about many of the landmarks and hear interesting stories like how they built buildings. One interesting fact I learned was that the John Hancock buildings windows use to fall out. They fell out because the architects did not think about how the different temperatures throughout the seasons would affect the buildings. The building also swayed when the wind reached over 45mph. I had a lot of fun on the Charles river cruise.

This bridge has three modes of transportation happening at once. Cars, trains and people, all intersect at one point
