Fitbit Exploration Project

By Lauren

The students in Pathways health &fitness have started a Fitness Exploration project this semester called From Here to There. The students are wearing a FitBit Inspire to track daily steps, weekly miles, and set goals each week. Each week, students have shown an improvement in their weekly miles. Many students are reaching their goals and are inspired to set higher mileage goals! While tracking weekly miles, the students are "walking" to different cities and exploring sites of interest in those cities. As a group, so far we have walked a total 1,994.73 miles! We have explored New York City, visited many landmarks, Broadway shows, restaurants, and more. Next stop, is Washington D.C. See you there!

A couple of weeks ago we started doing a Fitbit unit in Mr. Reed's Health and Fitness class. We use a Fitbit to help motivate to move our body more, calculate how many steps and miles we walk, check our heart rate, and burn calories. It is a good learning experience to use our Fitbit. The Fitbit chart is easy to know how many steps everyone counts. The chart next to the United States map counts how many miles we have travelled. We hope to visit Florida if everyone gets more than 10,000 steps.
