Summer Program Begins!

On June 29, 2022, the Pathways / Launch Summer Program went to the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the Senate.  First we went into the replica of the Senate chamber from the Capitol Building, which looks like a courtroom with lots of desks.  There was the replica of the Candy Desk on one side of the room and the replica of Senator Kennedy's desk on the other side.  Then we went into the exhibit which was a replica of Kennedy's office.  There was an old typewriter, old telephone, and his work space.  After that we went to the voting exhibit with the timeline from 1800's to the present.  Students were asked to look through the exhibit to find the answer to the question, "When did the voting age become 18 years old?" and Clare was the first one to find the answer, which was 1971.  The museum staff were extremely welcoming and knowledgable, and we are grateful for that!  The weather was also wonderful to be near the water and enjoy lunch at Castle Island.  It was a great first field trip to kick off the summer!
