OT exercises

By Ms. Clark (OT)
Every Tuesday morning, we have a motor group with me, the school's occupational therapist.  This group gets our students' bodies ready for their school day.  The students' move their bodies in all different ways.  Sometimes we jump on the trampoline, use therabands, medicine balls, learn a variety of stretches or try new exercises.  We even do yoga.  It is a lot of fun!

CLARE HWANG
OT was a lot of fun. During OT, we usually pass the ball around to other people. When the ball stops, we usually do a stretch or an exercise. After warming up, we sometimes play the rice game with a bean bag. In this game, we put the rice bottle on the floor between our feet. We toss the beanbag to try to knock over other rice bottles.
Today we played hot potatoes. We used four beanbags.  We pass the beanbags around the circle. We had to pass the bean bag to a person without a bean bag.  It was a challenging game. Every student takes a turn each week to choose a song.  Sometimes we do yoga. We do different types of yoga poses.  I like tree pose best. I feel more ready for my classes after I go to OT.

Thera-band exercises

Jack and Clare did leg raises while doing the mat exercises, one of the exercises from swim practice.  Most students tried a new arm and leg stretch.
