Rivers Students visit Pathways every Wednesday and we love it!

By Olivia Holmes (Rivers student)

Last Wednesday Rivers students visited Pathways to celebrate Halloween.  We carved and painted pumpkins with partners, and everyone worked together to make 6 awesome pumpkins!  Students were able to add things on to the pumpkins (such as glueing objects on) and were able to create a pumpkin of their choice!

Pathways visited the Rivers classroom!  The day was started by talking about how we spent our day with partners.  Some popular questions asked were: How much time do you spend at school?  How much time do you spend sleeping?  How much time do you spend watching television?  After asking these various questions students worked together to create a pie chart on a stool.  The pie chart represented how the students spent their day, and the students were able to gain a better visual idea of how much time they spend doing certain things.  Both the Pathways students and the Rivers students created a colorful stool that is now used in the classroom.

Today during our math block Rivers students visited the Pathways room with various worksheets. Each students had a partner and they worked on completing the sheet together.  Each pair was given a multiplication tables chart and a multiplication tables worksheet made by a Rivers student.  For some of the harder problems students had the option to use pennies, popsicle sticks, or Jenga blocks to help with counting.  If the pair completed all the problems successfully, the Rivers students prepared some additional problems that referred back to the multiplication tables chart and a multiplication tables worksheet!
